Skincare Routine For Oily Skin

What’s more gorgeous than a soft glow on your skin? It makes your face look youthful and healthy. But when that dewy shine turns into an oil spill, well then, it’s a whole different story.

If you’re running through blotting paper faster than toiler paper in 2020, you can thank your sebaceous glands. These sebum producers excrete natural oils to keep your skin hydrated. But when they become overactive – BAM, there goes your makeup, sliding on down your face.

Genetics, hormonal, lifestyle and environmental factors all play a role in how oily your skin is. However, adjusting the traditional skincare routine can help minimise out-of-control shine.

DAILY
Step 1: Cleanse once a day (at night)

As tempting as it may be, do not wash your face multiple times throughout the day. It’s counterintuitive, but removing too much oil actually increases sebum production.

Using warm water with a gentle cleanser (like COS Lemon Coulis Cleanser) that doesn’t dry out your pores helps avoid your glands from overcorrecting.

 

Step 2: Tone every morning

Use a mattifying toner to help clear away excess oil. It will also go deep into your pores for a more thorough cleanse.

Step 3: Moisturise twice, morning and night

Exfoliate 1-2 times a week
